Theseus

A 150-bed housing project adjacent to the Port of Chelsea, Massachusetts, repurposing cargo holds from decommissioned bulk-carrier ships into resilient, occupiable superstructures.

Suspended floor plates leave the ground open for communal use, creating a floodable civic space. Operable party walls let residents expand or merge households as domestic needs change. Across five buildings, the project addresses climate adaptation, material scarcity, and long-term housing stability.
